TOSA is committed to a mission of saving lives through the power of organ donation by providing organ donation and recovery services to Central and South Texans wishing to donate, and to those waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. Recognized as a Top Employer, TOSA has staff members in Austin, San Antonio, and McAllen.**JOB SUMMARY:** The Hospital/Donor Services Coordinator supports the mission, goals, and strategic plan of Texas Organ Sharing Alliance by evaluating potential organ donor referrals, maximizing medical management, and developing assigned hospitals to facilitate donation. This position requires travel by company or personal automobile or commercial aircraft to accomplish the job responsibilities. The incumbent will have access to confidential material and needs to use discretion with this information while strictly adhering to the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA) confidentiality policy.**WORK SCHEDULE:** The Hospital/Donor Services Coordinator is a full-time position. Normal office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. With clinical responsibilities and assigned workload, the schedule may fall outside of normal business hours based on regional schedule and needs. These responsibilities may include up to a 24 hour shift based on assigned region (McAllen). Both regions may work evenings or weekends, as needed.**WORK LOCATION:** Laredo TX.**KEY FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:*** Performs referral evaluation via phone or on-site as indicated according to Clinical Services Policies and Procedures.* Evaluates medical suitability of potential organ and/or tissue donors, utilizing information from medical records, history and physical examination, and current health status.* Collaborates with physicians and other hospital staff to develop plan for referral management from initial referral through declaration of death or Donation after Circulatory Death (DCD) evaluation.* Demonstrates an understanding of the legal and hospital requirements for declaration of death and organ donation.* Identifies the patient’s legal next-of-kin in accordance with state and Uniform Anatomical Gift Act (UAGA) statutes.* Assesses family dynamics and provides families the opportunity for organ and tissue donation in a sensitive and caring manner; one that meets their emotional and cultural needs according to established guidelines.* Obtains detailed Uniform Donor Risk Assessment Interview (UDRAI) with the ability to provide follow-up questions that are clinically relevant.* In collaboration with Organ Recovery Coordinators (ORC) contacts Medical Examiner, Justice of the Peace, and/or appropriate legal authority to obtain clearance to proceed with organ recovery.* Within established guidelines, coordinates and maximizes medical management with the hospital staff, consulting physicians, and TOSA staff in order to ensure optimal outcomes for donor families and recipients.* Shares complex clinical information about donors through extensive interaction with* Documents complete, accurate, and timely information of referral and donor related activities in the confidential donor record, forms, and database according to established policies and procedures.* Consults TOSA’s AOC according to established policies and procedures.* Participates in interdisciplinary quality meetings, post-donor review with team members, and appropriate management staff.* Ensures compliance with TOSA’s Safety, Quality, and Multicultural Organizational Plans.* Acts as liaison between TOSA’s ORC/ORS and hospital personnel.* Development of hospitals and health care systems to become maximum organ donor organizations. Maintaining a marketing profile on each assigned hospital with potential for greater than one potential donor per year, containing a complete assessment and analysis of hospital information. Frequency of analysis is dependent on donor potential.* Solicits post-donor feedback from donor hospital staff after each case.* Routine and special visits to assigned hospitals and health care systems.* Development of customized strategic and tactical plans focused upon increasing organ donation and improving client relationships.* Demonstration of knowledge of each assigned hospitals or health systems organizational and decision making structure including the structure associated with organ donation communications, etc.* The assistance and development of hospital policies, procedures and protocols related to organ donation and organ recovery.* Development and presentation of education and training programs.* The establishment and maintenance of effective working relationships with hospital and medical staff.* Conducts regular meetings with hospital administrators/CEO's in hospitals to discuss results of record reviews, request assistance in internally promoting the donor program through key hospital personnel.* Manages and maintains TOSA's donor Hospital Agreement process.* Maintains on-going communication with the Director of Hospital Services and Director of Clinical Operations or designee.* Seeks opportunities for professional growth.* Attends and participates in development meetings either in person or by conference calls.* Coordinates with the tissue/eye bank representatives' in-services for non-organ donor hospitals.## Qualifications**REQUIREMENTS:** 1. Bachelor’s degree in health care or related field of study.2. Healthcare professional with three to five years of experience in the medical field.3. Ability to utilize teamwork, technical, analytical, problem solving, organizational and communications skills and be able to function effectively with minimum supervision.4. Must be able to function in environments of high emotional stress, due to the nature of the functions and interactions required.5. Valid driver's license and proof of insurability for automobile insurance.6. Requires installation and use of a company-approved location tracking application during work-related travel and while performing duties at off-site locations7. Physical requirements also include the ability to lift at least 50lbs.
