Qualifications

  • Eligibility to serve in the United States Navy, which may involve citizenship or equivalent status
  • High school diploma or equivalent for enlisted positions; bachelor’s degree for officer programs
  • Meeting age limits and medical, vision, and dental standards, with some jobs having more demanding requirements
  • Meeting character and conduct standards, including background screening
  • Achieving required test scores such as ASVAB or officer qualification tests
  • Eligibility for security clearance when required
  • Additional qualifications can include specific skills, education, licensure, or experience reviewed with a recruiter

Responsibilities

  • Perform emergency medical treatment for Sailors, Marines, and specialized units such as SEALs and Seabees
  • Provide basic and emergency dental care and process dental X rays
  • Serve as operating room technician and assist in surgery
  • Administer preventive care and medications including immunizations and IVs
  • Conduct physical exams and assist in diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries
  • Maintain patient records, perform clinical tests, and support physicians and nurses in a wide range of specialties

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Bachelor's degree for officer positions
