Job summary

City of Hope in Irvine, CA is seeking a hospital kitchen cook to accurately prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold foods for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events. You will follow recipes, operate kitchen equipment, and ensure high standards of safety and service.

The role requires 3–4 years of related experience and a high school diploma or equivalent. Hospital experience is preferred; training in allergy and foodborne illness safety is provided.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience is required.
• 3 to 4 years of related work experience in food service or hospital setting.
• Preferably: Cook experience in the hospital setting and knowledge of basic operation of equipment and cash-handling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks ‘to order’ foods that may require short and broader preparation time.
• Provides high-quality service to customers at all times.
• Follows basic recipes and prepares soups, meats, vegetables, and other foodstuffs for consumption; operates kitchen equipment.
• Reads orders or verbal instructions and prepares and cooks food according to instructions.
• Maintains sanitation, safety, and confidential handling per City of Hope policies.
• Attends allergy and foodborne illness in-service training and safety meetings.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
