Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Cook I at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg. This full-time role involves preparing, portioning, cooking, and presenting a variety of hot and cold dishes across meal periods, in a fast-paced kitchen.

You will follow Sodexo’s culinary standards to ensure quality, safety, and menu consistency. The position requires basic kitchen knowledge, ability to read recipes, and availability for varying shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service.
• Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and serving foods.
• Estimate food requirements and check production to plan production needs and requisition supplies.
• Significant walking or other mobility required.
• Ability to stand for extended periods (over 8 hours).
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally 50 pounds.
• Perform repetitive motions.
• Attend work on schedule and on time.
• Other duties may be assigned based on business needs.
