Job summary

UPMC Cole is seeking an experienced Chef to join our Food Services team, responsible for preparing and coordinating high-quality meals for patients, visitors, staff, and catered events while upholding food safety and quality standards.

This 32-hour-per-week schedule runs 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., every other weekend and some holidays. Candidates should have at least two years of cooking experience, with ServSafe certification preferred and a commitment to teamwork and service.

Qualifications

• Two years of cooking experience required.
• ServSafe Certification preferred.
• Hospital food service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate food preparation for patient dining, retail operations, and catered events.
• Ensure food is prepared according to recipes, quality standards, and food safety guidelines.
• Monitor food quality, presentation, portioning, and storage.
• Assist with kitchen operations, cleanliness, and sanitation standards.
• Support and guide kitchen staff in food preparation and production activities.
• Help deliver outstanding service to patients, visitors, and employees.
• Monitor kitchen equipment and communicate maintenance needs.
