Job summary

UCLA Health in Los Angeles hires a friendly, detail-oriented cafeteria cashier to support daily operations, including beverage preparation and food service in a fast-paced healthcare setting. You will handle POS transactions, uphold safety standards, assist other stations, and ensure accuracy in cash handling while providing excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.

This role is fully on-site at UCLA Health locations with variable shifts, and AFSCME wage minimum requirements

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in handling computerized cash registers to process transactions.
• Skill in making change, handling currency, and recognizing counterfeit bills.
• Skill in basic bookkeeping transactions.
• Mathematical skills to ensure accuracy in deposits and postings.
• Ability to follow all Departmental, University, and Hospital cash-handling policies.
• Ability to function as a team member and participate in performance improvements.
• Ability to interact with customers in a high-volume operation with diplomacy.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift at least 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures (JC and HACCP).
• English reading, speaking, and writing skills.
• Ability to travel to multiple UCLA Health locations.

Responsibilities

• Accurately process customer purchases using a computerized point-of-sale system.
• Prepare coffee, espresso beverages, and other specialty drinks according to recipes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work area; replenish supplies as needed.
• Perform cash handling duties, balance drawers, and secure deposits per procedures.
• Assist in food service operations and support other cafeteria stations as needed.
• Adhere to food safety, sanitation, and customer service standards at all times.
