Job summary

Oklahoma City Public Schools seeks a Special Education Teacher for a Behavioral Health Hospital setting at OU Health. Create and implement individualized IEP-based instruction in a trauma-informed classroom, ensuring compliance with district, state, and hospital policies.

You will collaborate with hospital staff, manage IEPs, maintain records, report progress to families, and participate in MDT/IEP meetings while maintaining professional boundaries and safeguarding student well-being.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field required.
• Oklahoma special education teaching certification required for assigned program and student needs.
• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, progress monitoring, and case management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide specially designed instruction and educational supports consistent with each student's IEP, including goals, accommodations, and services.
• Develop lesson plans and small-group learning experiences aligned to IEP objectives.
• Teach academic, functional, transition skills using Oklahoma standards.
• Maintain progress records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with parents/guardians.
• Coordinate IEP meetings and collaborate with hospital staff and other service providers.
• Establish safe, trauma-informed classroom environment and ensure professional boundaries.
