Job summary

VitalCaring is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator in Ocean Springs, MS to build and oversee a robust volunteer program within our hospice services. You will recruit and train volunteers, coordinate service needs with patients and families, and supervise volunteers while maintaining monthly statistics.

The role requires a college degree and at least two years in a health care setting, with hospice or volunteer experience preferred.

Qualifications

• College degree; advanced degree in human services preferred.
• Minimum two years in a health care setting; hospice/volunteer experience preferred.
• Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services.
• Understands hospice philosophy and can develop volunteer personnel.
• Experience organizing volunteers for patient and organizational needs.
• Ability to manage a group of volunteers who may be considered employees.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain volunteer training and orientation program.
• Recruit, educate, and select volunteers from multiple sessions per year.
• Establish volunteer service needs with patient/family and hospice team.
• Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely manner.
• Maintain monthly statistics and current personnel files.
• Attend interdisciplinary group meetings and contribute to quality activities.
• Provide information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
• Participate in budget preparation for program development.
• Actively participate in quality assessment and performance improvement teams.
• Perform other related duties as needed.

As a Volunteer Coordinator you will:

1. 1) Develop and maintain volunteer training and orientation program.
2. 2) Recruits, educates, and selects volunteers from at least three (3) recruitment sessions a year.
3. 3) Establish a need for volunteer services with the patient and family/caregiver and entire hospice team.
4. 4) Supervise and evaluate volunteers in a timely and appropriate manner.
5. 5) Maintains monthly statistics.
6. 6) Maintains current personnel files.
7. 9) Attends interdisciplinary group meetings.
8. 10) Provides information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
9. 11) Participates as needed in the budget preparation for program development.

11. 13) Accepts and performs other related duties and responsibilities.

Position Qualifications

6. 6) Ability to manage a group of individuals providing volunteer time and who will be considered employees.
