Job summary

Lighthouse Hospice and Palliative Care in Downers Grove is seeking compassionate Patient Care Volunteers to provide companionship and support for patients at home. This role is vital in offering comfort and social interaction, ensuring every individual feels supported and cared for during their time with hospice. Volunteer opportunities include listening to music, chatting, and engaging in hobbies, all while fostering a respectful and positive environment for patients and their families. Training and support are provided by the Volunteer Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and automotive insurance for patient visits.
• Successful completion of a background check is required.

Responsibilities

• Visit patients at their home for companionship and socialization.
• Engage in activities such as listening to music and conversing.
• Provide a positive, supportive, and respectful environment.

Volunteer Opportunities

Become a Volunteer with Lighthouse Hospice! Make a lasting difference in someone’s life. We’re seeking kind, compassionate volunteers to provide comfort, companionship, and connection to our patients and their families. All training and ongoing support are provided by our Volunteer Coordinator. All you need to bring is your heart.

Volunteers are not paid employees and do not receive compensation for their time.

Patient Care Volunteers

Patient Care Volunteers visit patients at their home on a weekly basis, or as needed. These visits are solely for companionship and socialization. Some examples of duties would include, but are not limited to, listening to music, conversing, assisting with a hobby, etc. Patient Care Volunteers also provide a positive, supportive, and respectful environment for the patient, family, and staff members.

Currently assisting individuals in the Chicago Western Suburbs.

• Successful completion of a background check is required.
