Job summary

Riverside Health System in Newport News, VA is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for intermittent visiting home health care. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients, working under the Nurse Manager and Director to ensure high-quality outcomes.

You will supervise non-professional staff, address age-specific care needs, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive services, including hospice philosophy adherence.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Virginia (VDHP) is required.
• CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days.
• 1–3 years acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate total nursing care for assigned patients.
• Provide care in home health/home care settings under supervision of Nurse Manager and Director.
• Supervise and delegate to non-professional personnel to ensure quality patient care.
• Work weekends as required and support hospice philosophy.

Newport News, Virginia Hiring Range $38.60 - $53.08/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Overview

Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Director and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients on an intermittent visiting basis. The RN may work in a variety of settings (typically in a home care type setting) and roles within Riverside Health System. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel working directly with him/her to ensure optimum patient care. Must demonstrate competence in dealing with age related needs of specific patient populations served in their assigned area. Works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team (physical, speech, or occupational therapy; medical social services, and Home Health Aide services) to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health system and facility goals and strategic plans. Supports the hospice philosophy. Required to work weekend shifts.

• Education Program Graduate, (Required)
• Bachelors Degree, (Preferred)
• Experience 1-3 years Acute Care Exp (Preferred)
• Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required)
• CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days(Required)
• Drives personal vehicle for RHS business 25% or more of the time to perform essential functions of the job
• Valid Drivers License Required
