Job summary
Heartland Hospice is seeking a Hospice Physician to oversee compassionate, goal-directed care for hospice patients. You will work with interdisciplinary teams, supervise home visits, and coordinate 24/7 on-call coverage while ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality documentation.
The role requires board certification in Hospice/Palliative Medicine, MO licensure, and ability to travel 15–25% to support program needs, with a focus on quality improvement and collaboration with leadership.
Qualifications
- MD/DO with board-certified Hospice and Palliative Care.
- Active Missouri medical license, NPI and DEA registration.
- Ability to travel 15-25% based on program needs.
- CPR and TB clearance required.
Responsibilities
- Certify and recertify hospice eligibility per Medicare/regulations.
- Conduct and supervise home visits for complex cases.
- Provide 24/7/365 on-call physician coverage coordination.
- Maintain timely medical documentation for regulatory reviews.
- Participate in IDG meetings to coordinate care and med management.
- Collaborate with leadership on policy, QAPI, and compliance initiatives.
- Serve as a community liaison to enhance hospice visibility and partnerships.
- Support staff and partner education programs.
