Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration's Las Vegas / Southern Nevada Health Care System seeks a Hospice and Palliative Care Physician to join an integrated inpatient and outpatient program. You will work with a multidisciplinary Palliative Care Team including physicians, nurses, social worker and chaplain to deliver compassionate care.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship required; non-citizens may be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited.
• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from VA-approved school.
• Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state/territory/DC.
• Residency training approved by VA in an accredited core specialty leading to board certification eligibility.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Preferred experience in Palliative Hospice Care, Geriatric Medicine, or a Palliative/Hospice fellowship.
• TB testing and immunization evaluations as per VA directive.

Responsibilities

• Provide hospice and palliative care consultation in acute care, outpatient, and home health settings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with staff to ensure smooth patient transitions.
• Implement strategic care plans to facilitate access to quality life services.
• Participate in medical provider assignments and department coverage with Geriatrics and Extended Care.
• Ensure care delivery within established clinical privileges and scope of practice.
