AccentCare is seeking a Hospice Medical Director to provide medical leadership and oversight for hospice services from San Diego, CA. This part-time role emphasizes care planning, symptom management, mentorship of staff, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to drive quality outcomes.

The position requires an MD or DO license, active DEA, and a strong knowledge of hospice and Medicare regulations, with board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine preferred.

Qualifications

• Must hold an MD or DO license in the practicing state.
• Active DEA license required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong knowledge of primary medical care principles.
• Familiar with hospice regulations and Medicare requirements.
• Board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine preferred.
• 10+ years of clinical experience preferred.
• 5+ years in a medical director or admin role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical leadership and oversight for hospice services.
• Support clinical excellence, eligibility determinations, care planning, symptom management, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote quality outcomes and continuous improvement.
• Lead recruitment, development, mentorship, and performance management for hospice physicians.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements.
• Build and maintain relationships with physicians, hospitals, and referral partners.
• Participate in professional, educational, and community activities supporting the mission.
• Provide direct patient care and clinical consultation as needed.
