Job summary

Gentiva is seeking a Hospice Medical Director to lead medical oversight across our San Antonio, Harlingen, Corpus Christi, Beeville, Victoria, and Pleasanton branches. You will certify eligibility, supervise physicians, and coordinate 24/7 on-call coverage to ensure compassionate, compliant patient care.

Requirements include MD/DO, ABMS/AOA board certification, and Hospice Certification. Travel of 15-25% is expected, with robust leadership and regulatory expertise driving QAPI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of hospice and palliative care principles, regulations, and best practices.
• Leadership and mentorship to inspire interdisciplinary teams and improve patient care.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and regulatory requirements.
• Compassionate communication and empathy toward patients and families facing end-of-life situations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee medical services provided by hospice physicians across multiple locations.
• Certify and recertify hospice eligibility with Medicare and other regulations.
• Lead physician recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation.
• Provide 24/7/365 on-call physician coverage coordination.
• Ensure accurate medical documentation and support regulatory reviews.
