Job summary

Transitions Hospice in Kentucky seeks a Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and quality oversight for the program. You will serve as the medical authority, guide the interdisciplinary team, and ensure compassionate, evidence-based end-of-life care across the coverage territory.

This role emphasizes policy development, Medicare/CHAP compliance, and physician education within a supportive, mission-driven culture. Competitive compensation and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• MD or DO licensed to practice in Kentucky with no restrictions.
• Active controlled substances registrations with state and federal authorities.
• Not excluded from Medicare participation and has hospice/palliative care knowledge.
• Ongoing medical education in hospice/palliative care is expected.
• Strong clinical judgment in pain and symptom management for terminally ill patients.
• Ability to educate, collaborate, and advocate across interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall medical direction for the hospice program and supervise providers.
• Consult on pain and symptom management for hospice patients.
• Serve as primary medical resource to the interdisciplinary group.
• Ensure 24-hour physician coverage meets patient needs.
• Review and develop treatment protocols with evidence-based options.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hospice and palliative care research.
• Collaborate with practitioners as needed for quality care.
