AuthoraCare Collective is seeking a Hospice Medical Billing Specialist for a full-time remote role, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm. The ideal candidate will have experience billing Hospice claims and be organized, detail-oriented, and an effective communicator.

The position collaborates with revenue cycle teams to ensure timely and accurate claims processing and collections. The role supports revenue cycle activities with multiple billing systems, pays attention to denials, and helps

• 2-3 years of healthcare billing experience required.
• Experience billing Hospice claims is required.
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and other payors is required.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems (Homecare/Homebase preferred).
• Knowledge of payment posting and coding basics (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
• Valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Responsabilidades

• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of billing compliance and third-party requirements.
• Process billing for all payers, including electronic submissions.
• Make necessary payer changes and communicate impacts on revenue recognition.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to post charges and correct errors.
• Monitor Accounts Receivable aging and follow up on past-due balances.
• Review billing reports for accuracy and completeness as directed.

AuthoraCare Collective is currently seeking a Hospice Medical Billing Specialist. This is a Full-time remote position Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Experience in billing Hospice claims is required.

Job Summary

The Medical Billing Specialist is organized, detail oriented, and a great communicator. The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for all areas of revenue cycle management including but not limited to timely processing, researching denied claims, and posting appropriate payment and adjustments using multiple billing software.

Escalates unresolved issues appropriately, quickly, and recommends solutions to minimize future problems. Reporting to the Manager of Revenue Cycle, this position works closely with all team members involved in the revenue cycle to ensure claims are billed and collected in a timely manner.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma Required. Associate degree related to healthcare preferred.
• 2-3 years of healthcare billing experience is a must.
• Experience in billing Hospice claims is required.
• Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and other payors required.
• Proficiency with any EMR/EHR (Homecare/Homebase – preferred)
• Knowledge of payment posting
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of medical terminology including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
• Other: Valid state-issued driver's license required. Must carry automobile liability insurance at limits required by agency. Must have own transportation.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain current knowledge of industry compliance including new regulations, conditions, requirement of participation, and third-party billing requirements.
• Perform all aspects of billing for all payers including electronic billing using multiple systems and Private Pay statements.
• Assist in making any necessary retroactive payer changes as required and coordinate/communicate regarding impacts on prior period revenue recognition
• Collaborate with clinical staff for the completion of charge posting and clearing errors to produce invoices for submission.
• Monthly review of Accounts Receivable Aging reports and follow-up on past due balances
• Examines billing reports to ensure accuracy and completeness defined by management
• Ability to analyze information gathered to identify potential problems or discrepancies
• Complete all required duties and projects in a timely fashion on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis per the direction of leadership
• Perform other duties as required by leadership
