Job summary

Advocate Health at Home hospice in the Chicago area seeks a Chaplain to provide holistic spiritual care for patients and families. You will counsel, support during crises, and participate in care planning within an interdisciplinary team.

Required are a completed master's degree in theology or divinity, strong counseling skills, and experience assisting those near end of life. Must be able to travel within Advocate Aurora service area and work on-call/weekend rotations.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills with knowledge of counseling techniques.
• Ability to identify clients’ needs with consideration to cultural, ethnic, religious, economic, and other diverse backgrounds
• Experience and compassion in ministering to those who are dying and their grieving families.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive holistic spiritual care to patients, families, and healthcare staff, including counseling, crisis response, and sacramental support.
• Assist during emergencies, guides families through illness and end‑of‑life processes and promote patient safety.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, participate in care planning, education, and ethical discussions, and supports staff through consultations and training.

Education

Completed masters degree (MA, MDiv) in religious studies, theology, divinity or related field.
