Job summary

Goodwin Living seeks a dedicated spiritual support professional to provide chaplaincy services for residents, families, and staff. The role centers on honoring diverse beliefs while offering compassionate guidance and spiritual care.

Collaboration with clergy and trained volunteers will be essential to meet residents’ needs. The position emphasizes sensitivity to life-threatening illness, ongoing training, and the ability to document care promptly.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology or appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry.
• Demonstrated ability to be open, sensitive, flexible and ecumenical.
• Demonstrated experience in working with patients/families dealing with life-threatening illness and death.

Responsibilities

• Provides spiritual support and/or counsel to patients/families/staff in keeping with residents’/families’/staffs’ beliefs.
• Contacts clergy or appropriate representatives of residents/families as indicated.
• Develops and maintains a resource group of clergies to whom specific aspects of spiritual care may be delegated.
• Documents spiritual support information clearly and concisely in a timely manner.
• Provides or participates in staff and volunteer training to enhance their sensitivity to the spiritual concerns of residents/families experiencing terminal illness and loss.
• Performs occasional liturgical assignments such as an annual memorial service.
• Conducts or decides for a funeral or memorial service when indicated.

Salary: $33 hour

About the Position
