Job summary

Gentiva is seeking a compassionate Hospice Aide to provide hands-on personal care and emotional support to patients in their homes or care facilities. You will work under the hospice team, assisting with daily activities and ensuring comfort during end-of-life care.

The role requires an active HHA license, CPR certification, and reliable transportation. Prior home health or hospice experience is preferred to support caregivers and families with empathy and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Active HHA license in the state of employment.
• Current CPR certification.
• Driver’s license and reliable vehicle with insurance.
• Six months of direct patient care experience.
• Comfortable working in home/hospice/long-term care settings.
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and ability to handle emotional situations.
• Willingness to work independently and adapt to changing patient needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care to terminally ill patients.
• Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, and toileting.
• Support safe mobility with walkers and wheelchairs.
• Help with meal preparation, feeding, and light housekeeping.
• Observe and report changes in the patient’s condition.
• Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and families.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of visits.
• Attend team meetings and participate in Quality Improvement activities.
• Practice infection control and follow safety protocols.

Essential Functions

About You

Preferred Background (Not Required)

• Experience in home health, hospice, palliative care, or oncology
• Prior roles in hospital nursing, ICU, geriatrics, med-surg, ER, telemetry, or nursing homes
• Exposure to end-of-life care, wound care, or admissions support
