Job summary

Optimal Care is seeking a Hospice Aide/Homemaker to provide hands-on care in patients' homes, supporting bathing, grooming, meals, mobility, and daily activities. You will help sustain patients’ quality of life while fostering dignity and comfort in their chosen home setting.

Ideal candidates hold a CNA certification and have reliable transportation for daily travel within Livingston, Brighton, Howell, and surrounding areas, collaborating with nurses and the care team to address individualized

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write in English and follow written and verbal instructions in English effectively.
• Experience with hospice or home health care is preferred.
• Current Nurse Aide certification and good standing on the state registry.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene) and mobility.
• Assist patients to maintain quality of life at home and build trusting relationships.

About the Role

As a Hospice Aide/Homemaker, you'll provide hands-on support that helps patients maintain their quality of life while remaining in the place they call home. Through assistance with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility, you'll help ensure each patient receives the care, comfort, and respect they deserve.

Through assistance with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility, you'll help ensure each patient receives the care, comfort, and respect they deserve. This role is ideal for a caring professional who finds purpose in building meaningful connections and serving others with empathy and compassion. You'll develop trusting relationships with patients and families while working closely with nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to support each patient's unique needs. Every visit is an opportunity to provide reassurance, preserve dignity, and make a lasting impact during an important stage of the patient's journey.

Location

• Office Location: 24255 W 13 Mile Rd, Suite 250, Bingham Farms, MI 48025
• Main Service Area: Livingston, Brighton, Howell, South Lyon, and surrounding communities

• This role is a high travel position and requires daily travel within the service area to provide care to patients in their homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes

Hours

• Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Weekend On-Call Rotation

Required Qualification

• Completed a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training
• Sixteen hours of classroom must be completed prior to a mandatory 16 hours of practical training
• Must hold current certification as a nurse aide and be in good standing on the state nurse aide registry
• Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and valid automobile insurance coverage

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a Hospice Aide, Home Health Aide, or Certified Nursing Assistant

Essential Skills and Competencies

• Must be able to read and write in English and follow written and verbal instructions in English effectively
• Understands hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill in the home or facility
• Is self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
• Secure with issues of death/dying
• Provides a calm manner when in a patient's home
• Has empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired

Pay Range

$20-$23 USD
