Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a field service technician to drive a fully equipped PIRTEK mobile service van across Staten Island and the NYC area, responding to on-site breakdowns and performing hydraulic hose installation and repairs.

You will service marine equipment, tugboats, shipyards, construction equipment, and heavy machinery, participate in on-call rotations including nights and weekends, and maintain clear communication with customers while keeping the van and tools in top condition.

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the US

Responsibilities

• Respond to on-site breakdowns, routinely on an emergency basis
• Diagnose, replace, and install hydraulic and industrial hoses
• Service marine equipment, tugboats, shipyards, construction equipment, industrial machinery, and machines
• Perform machine servicing and cylinder repair
• Participate in the on-call rotation, including nights and weekends
• Communicate with customers, explain problems, and outline repairs
• Maintain the truck, tools, and paperwork
• Help a small business owner grow their local PIRTEK business

Requirements

• Mechanical inclination; experience with cars, boats, heavy equipment, or machines is helpful but not required
• Ability to work with hands and solve problems
• Ability to remain calm when customers are stressed and machinery is down
• Clear communication with customers and teammates
• Respect for safety processes
• Comfortable with dirt, grease, tight spaces, and standing
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a background check and drug check
• Ability to work nights and weekends
• Legally authorized to work in the US
