Job summary

City of Saint Paul Parks and Recreation seeks a Horticulturist I to cultivate and maintain plant collections, landscapes, gardens, greenhouse displays, parks, and medians across the city. This role blends indoor and outdoor work to create attractive, healthy public spaces for residents and visitors.

Responsibilities include planting, watering, pruning, pest monitoring, assisting with garden design, and guiding volunteers.

Qualifications

• 12 months of experience in horticulture or a related industry, not including sales.
• Must possess and maintain a Minnesota Class D Driver's License or equivalent out of state license.
• Pre-Employment Screening includes medical examination, driver’s license check, and background check.

• Monitor plants for pests, diseases, and growing conditions and maintain horticultural records.
• Assist with design, installation, and care of gardens, planters, botanical collections, greenhouse displays, and zoo exhibits.
• Safely operate and maintain horticultural tools, equipment, and motorized vehicles following safety practices.
• Collaborate with staff and guide volunteers, interns, or others in plant care and display work.

Saint Paul Parks and Recreation has an opportunity for a Horticulturist I to help cultivate and maintain the plant collections, landscapes, gardens, greenhouse displays, parks, grounds, and medians enjoyed by residents and visitors throughout the city.
