Job summary

The Moses/Weitzman Health System seeks an Horticulture Program and Operations Manager to lead greenhouse and garden operations, grow educational programs, and drive "Food as Medicine" initiatives. You will coordinate volunteers and partners, manage propagation, plan seasonal production, and promote community engagement across Connecticut and nationally.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and strong horticulture and leadership skills, with comfort in physical work and outdoor

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Experience in greenhouse management, horticulture, agriculture, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of plant propagation, soil health, pest management, and greenhouse systems
  • Ability to lead and motivate volunteers of diverse backgrounds and ages
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Comfort with physical labor, working in varying temperature conditions, and lifting up to 40 lbs
  • (Preferred) Experience with community gardening, food justice, education, or nonprofit work

Responsibilities

  • Program design and development to advance Food as Medicine initiatives and partnerships
  • Oversee greenhouse and garden operations, maintenance, and expansion planning
  • Manage propagation schedules and seasonal production plans
  • Maintain growing conditions, monitor plant health, and implement sustainable solutions
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers; engage with community partners and youth programs
  • Lead workshops and tours on gardening practices and greenhouse management
  • Ensure safety, sustainability, recordkeeping, and reporting for grants and programs
