Job summary

Wethersfield Estate & Garden in Dutchess County, New York, invites applications for the Wethersfield Horticultural Fellowship. This 6-8 month position, beginning March or April, offers 40 hours per week and on-site housing.

Qualifications

• A horticultural education is preferred, and previous training and experience will be considered.
• Strong communication skills are desirable.
• A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Learn about ornamental horticulture and apply knowledge to maintain specific areas including annual beds, borders, woodland gardens, hedges, containers, and lawns.
• Learn greenhouse management, propagation, soil prep for container culture, irrigation, and integrated pest management.
• Rotate work on open weekend days and conduct garden tours or educational programs for community members.
