Job summary

Parents and Children Together in Honolulu seeks a Program Supervisor to oversee child abuse prevention services for families with children aged 0–3. The role includes home visits, group activities, health education, medical home setup, crisis intervention, and coordinating community involvement.

The position requires a Master’s degree with 2+ years in social services or related fields, or a Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years and supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Behaves in a manner that supports the agency's mission and follows personnel policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates and ensures delivery of home-based child abuse prevention services to high-risk families with young children (0–3).
  • Provides leadership and clinical oversight to program staff and supervises staff reporting directly to this position.
  • Carry a partial caseload and provide direct services to clients as a Parent Educator.
  • Ensures programs operate in line with funders’ standards and tracks timely completion of forms and assessments.
  • Reviews and approves intakes and assigns Parent Educator roles.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with funders and state agencies and attends required trainings.
  • Ensures program practices are rooted in current best practice principles.

Summary of Program and Position:

Hoomau Home Visiting provides support through home visits and works in partnership with families. Our parenting curriculum promotes safe and nurturing parenting and access to resources about healthy child development. Our program serves families with children ages birth through 3 years and families who have struggled to keep their children from harm. Families are referred by the Department of Human Services Child Welfare services, or PACT’s Voluntary Case Management and Family Strengthening Service programs.

The Program Supervisor supervises the delivery of child abuse prevention services to low to high-risk families referred by the Department of Human Services. Services include home visits, group activities, health education, and the establishment of medical home, crisis intervention, practical assistance, and participation in community activities and overseeing recruitment efforts. This position is under the direct supervision of the Assistant Program Director.

  • 1. Behaves in a manner that supports the agency's mission and follows personnel policies and procedures.
  • 2. Coordinates and ensures appropriate delivery of home-based child abuse prevention services to high-risk families with young children, ages 0-3. Monitors the quality of services to all families, including implementation of the team approach.
  • 3. Provides leadership and clinical oversight to program staff and assumes all the responsibilities of a supervisor for the staff that report directly to this position including providing orientation, individual supervision, staff meeting and observations of home visits and group connections.
  • 4. Carry a partial caseload and provide direct services to clients in the capacity of a Parent Educator.
  • 5. Ensures that programs are operating in a manner consistent with standards and guidelines established by funders, state law and the policies and procedures of the agency and tracks the timely and accurate completion of forms and assessments. Ensures program objectives are met and that reports are submitted in a timely manner to the Program Director.
  • 6. Reviews and approves intakes of families to the team and makes Parent Educator assignments.
  • 7. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with funders, collaborators, state agencies, other home visitation providers, and related coalitions and networks, attends required trainings and meetings.
  • 8. Ensures that program practices and intervention strategies are rooted in current best practice principles.
Education / Training/Experience:
  • 1. Master’s degree in a related field, plus two (2) years of work experience in Social work, Clinical Psychology, Counseling, or nursing required, OR
  • 2. Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus three (3) years of work experience in Social work, Clinical Psychology, Counseling, or nursing required.
  • 3. One (1) year supervisory experience in a health or human services field providing individual supervision to direct service staff.
Other:
  • 1. Possesses and maintains a valid driver’s license.
  • 2. Has daily access to an automobile.
  • 3. Possesses and maintains proof of no-fault insurance.
  • 4. Can obtain an acceptable pre-hire driver’s abstract and annually thereafter.
  • 5. Can obtain an acceptable Fingerprint (FBI) Background Check upon initial hire and as requested.
  • 6. Can obtain a State Criminal History check upon initial hire, one year later, and every other year thereafter or as requested.
  • 7. Can obtain an acceptable CWS child abuse registry check upon initial hire, one year later, and every other year thereafter or as requested.
  • 8. Can obtain an acceptable National Sex Offender registry check upon initial hire, one year later, and every other year thereafter or as requested.
  • 9. Must have a cell phone for use in emergencies at off-site locations.
