Job summary

The University of Texas at Arlington is seeking a Student Development Specialist II to advise and support Honors College students, greet prospective students, and coordinate activities. You will assist staff with programs essential to the college and participate in events and scholarship committees.

The annual salary ranges from $37,600 to $55,800 and will be based on experience and fit. Comprehensive benefits are provided by the university.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a work-related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in an advisory, administrative, or educational capacity with college students or adolescents in community youth groups.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience working with high-achieving students, preferably in an honors setting.
  • Familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and graphic computer programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with data assessment.
  • Tact, diplomacy and judgment in dealing with students, faculty, and administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Advise Honors College students toward completion of their Honors Degree.
  • Meet with incoming students to discuss Honors College requirements and benefits.
  • Educate students on how to earn Honors credits.
  • Meets with second-year students to evaluate their progress and discuss opportunities.
  • Meets with third-year students to review remaining requirements.
  • Assist with major college events and Admissions & Scholarships processes; perform other duties.
