Job summary

JMS Technical Solutions is seeking a Honing Technician for our client in Tonawanda, NY. This on-site, full-time, direct-hire role will set up and operate Sunnen hones to hone inside diameters on sleeves and cylinders.

You will read blueprints and instructions, use micrometers, air gauges, and bore gauges, and verify sizes to tolerance. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, be able to work independently, and lift moderately. Manufacturing experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing is a plus.
• Ability to work independently.
• Moderate lifting is required.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate Sunnen hones (manual and automatic) to hone inside diameters on sleeves and cylinders.
• Set-up and operate air gages and Sunnen bore gages. Use micrometers.
• Lap outside diameters of various precision parts to achieve the required size, straightness, roundness, and finish.
• Thoroughly clean parts of all honing oil and lapping compound.
• Read and understand engineering drawings, honing routers.
• Able to communicate effectively with other departments when necessary.
• Show a willingness to work through their attendance and maintain an overall positive attitude.
• Adhere to the company's policies and procedures.
• Performs other functions as required.

Our client, a leading manufacturing company in Tonawanda, NY, is lookingto add a Honing Technician to their team!
This is an onsite/ full-time/ direct-hire position
Salary based on experience: Up to $27/HR

A successful employee in this role will set up and operate equipment to perform necessary honing or lapping on inside and/or outside diameters of various precision parts. You will study blueprints, work orders, and/or machining instructions to determine product dimensions, diameters, and tooling.
