Job summary

Nationwide is hiring an Actuarial Consultant to join Personal Lines Pricing, focusing on Homeowner's line, shaping pricing strategy and managing risk. You will influence pricing decisions through catastrophe and weather pricing and forecasting.

Reporting to PL Actuary Pricing Leader, this role requires collaboration across actuarial, risk, and business teams and opportunities for rotations within P&C Actuarial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related quantitative field.
• ACAS designation or progress toward achieving actuarial credential preferred.
• Growth in actuarial experience, ideally in P&C pricing or personal lines pricing.
• Knowledge of traditional actuarial pricing methodologies and applying analytical judgment.
• Experience using data to evaluate loss trends and support pricing decisions.
• SQL experience and willingness to learn SQL quickly.
• Exposure to Python, R, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar tools.
• Experience with homeowners pricing, catastrophe and weather risk, or planning and forecasting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform and support actuarial analyses informing personal lines pricing weather loss and trend assumptions.
• Partner with Risk Management on catastrophe, reinsurance, and profit assumptions for pricing.
• Support methodology documentation and pricing innovation.
• Contribute to planning and forecasting activities, including pricing opinions.
• Monitor loss trends and emerging experience to improve pricing assumptions.
• Translate complex analyses into clear recommendations for business partners.
