Job summary

Garden Spot Village in New Holland, PA is seeking a Homemaker - Skilled Nursing (Part-time) to help create a warm, home-like environment for residents. You’ll prepare meals, assist with dining, and support daily life in a Skilled Nursing Household.

The role is part-time, 24-30 hours per week, with shifts from 6:00am to 2:00pm and rotating weekends/holidays. Training and certifications such as ServSafe and CPR/First Aid are encouraged, and first-time benefits include health, retirement, and

Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read menus, diet cards, recipes, and follow measurements and instructions.
• Ability to understand dietary restrictions such as regular, mechanical soft, and puréed diets.
• ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain after hire).

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, cooking, and serving of resident meals.
• Honor resident choice by supporting individual food preferences and dietary needs.
• Follow mealtimes: Lunch 11:30am-1:30pm and Dinner 4:30pm-6:30pm.
• Complete required documentation including food temperatures, dishwasher temps, and refrigeration logs.
• Clean and sanitize the kitchen and dining areas after meals and between mealtimes.
• Store, rotate, and manage weekly food stock orders using Cater-Trax system.
• Maintain compliance with all food safety guidelines.
• Perform daily cleaning tasks according to checklist.
• Take trash and recycling out to the dumpster before end of shift or mealtime.
• Encourage resident participation in food-related activities and provide 1:1 support when needed.
• Assist with household holiday meals, gatherings, and events.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, infection control, and Residents’ Rights policies.

At Garden Spot Village, our Homemakers play a central role in creating a warm, comfortable, and truly home-like environment for residents in one of our Skilled Nursing Households. This position supports daily life within the Household by preparing meals, maintaining kitchen and dining areas, fostering meaningful engagement, and contributing to the overall well-being and dignity of residents.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with the preparation, cooking, and serving of resident meals
• Honor resident choice by supporting individual food preferences and dietary needs
• Follow encouraged mealtimes: Lunch 11:30am-1:30pm and Dinner 4:30pm-6:30pm
• Complete required documentation including food temperatures, dishwasher temps, and refrigeration logs
• Clean and sanitize the kitchen and dining areas after meals and between mealtimes, including sweeping and mopping as assigned
• Store, rotate, and manage weekly food stock orders using the Cater-Trax system
• Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local food safety guidelines
• Perform daily cleaning tasks according to the Household Cleaning Checklist
• Take trash and recycling out to the dumpster before the end of shift or each mealtime
• Encourage resident participation in food-related activities and provide 1:1 support when needed
• Assist with household holiday meals, gatherings, and events
• Follow all safety, sanitation, infection control, and Residents’ Rights policies
• Maintain resident confidentiality and treat all residents, families, and staff with dignity and respect
• Attend required trainings and demonstrate consistent dependability and punctuality
• Perform other household duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

• Must be 18 or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read menus, diet cards, recipes, and follow measurements and instructions
• Ability to understand dietary restrictions such as regular, mechanical soft, and puréed diets
• ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain after hire)
• Efficient, organized, and able to maintain high standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness
• Kind, respectful, and supportive approach when interacting with residents
• Responsible for own work schedule and obtaining coverage when unable to work
• Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required
