Job summary

Here Home Care in Iowa City is seeking a Homemaker/Companion to provide non-medical support that keeps clients independent, safe, and comfortable at home. You’ll offer companionship, help with light housekeeping, meals, errands, and accompany clients to appointments when needed.

We value warmth, reliability, and relationships, and offer starting pay of $15–$17 per hour, holiday pay differentials, and ongoing training. Join a local team dedicated to compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
• Negative TB test and physical/health clearance.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
• Ability to safely lift up to 25 pounds and perform household tasks.

Responsibilities

• Offering companionship and meaningful conversation.
• Assisting with light activities such as games, hobbies, or walks.
• Helping with light housekeeping (laundry, dishes, sweeping, tidying).
• Planning and preparing simple, nutritious meals.
• Running errands or shopping with/for clients.
• Accompanying clients to appointments or activities (if approved).
• Observing and reporting changes in client well‑being (mood, appetite, environment).

The Role
