Home Instruction Teacher

Position: Home Instruction Teacher (As Needed)

Location: Student homes and/or approved community locations within the McKeesport Area School District

Employment Status: As-Needed/Per Assignment ($30 per hour)

Position Summary

The McKeesport Area School District is seeking Pennsylvania-certified teachers to provide home instruction to students who are temporarily unable to attend school due to a documented medical or other qualifying condition. Home Instruction Teachers work collaboratively with school administrators, counselors, classroom teachers, and families to ensure students continue to receive educational services aligned with district curriculum and instructional expectations.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide individualized instruction to eligible students in accordance with district and Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements.
• Develop and implement lesson plans based on classroom curriculum and teacher-provided assignments.
• Maintain communication with classroom teachers regarding student progress, assignments, and instructional needs.
• Monitor and document student attendance, instructional hours, and academic progress.
• Submit required documentation and reports in a timely manner.
• Maintain student confidentiality and adhere to all district policies and procedures.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and school personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.

Qualifications

• Valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or II Teaching Certificate.
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective individualized instruction.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain flexible scheduling.
• Current PA Criminal History Record, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance.

Compensation

Compensation will be provided in accordance with the applicable district-approved hourly rate and assignment guidelines.

Working Conditions

Assignments are provided based on student need and are not guaranteed. Instruction may occur in the student's home, hospital, or another district‑approved location. Scheduling is coordinated with the family and district administration.
