Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital is seeking a part‑time Scheduler (16 hours/week) to schedule patient visits and develop staffing schedules on-site in Illinois. The role involves collecting accurate demographic, billing and clinical information and maintaining high levels of customer service.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED, experience in customer service, and familiarity with electronic medical records. Bachelor’s degree and EMR experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patient visits.
  • Develops staffing schedules, triage and on-call schedules.
  • Interacts with patients, representatives, physicians and staff to gather and ensure accuracy of demographic, billing and clinical information.
  • Develops and distributes forms and reports with accurate patient information.
  • Enters all data related to scheduling needs.
  • Maintains exemplary level of customer service.
  • Reviews information with patient, physician and others to ensure accuracy.
  • Communicates instructions and arrival times to patient for each visit.
  • Accepts and directs patient calls to appropriate staff or charge nurse.
  • Communicates schedule changes to staff and patients.
  • Works with charge nurses and managers to maintain schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Schedules patient visits.
  • Develops staffing schedules, triage and on‑call schedules.
  • Interacts with patients, their representatives, physicians, physician office staff, departmental staff, to gather and ensure accuracy of demographic, billing and clinical information.
  • Develops and distributes required forms, documents and reports with accurate patient information.
  • Enters all data related to scheduling needs.
  • Maintains exemplary level of customer service.
  • Reviews new and previously recorded information with patient, physician and others to ensure accurate collection and analysis of information.
  • Communicates instructions and arrival times to patient for each visits.
  • Accepts and Directs patients calls to appropriate staff or charge nurse.
  • Communicates schedule changes to appropriate staff and or patients.
  • Works with charge nurses and managers to maintain schedules
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience in a customer service role.
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Previous experience with an electronic medical records system.
