Job summary

Personal Touch Home Care of Virginia Inc. seeks a qualified Full-Time Physical Therapist Assistant to serve the Southside VIRGINIA BEACH area. The PTA works under the direction of a physical therapist and follows the physician’s plan of care.

The role focuses on direct patient care, pain relief, function restoration, and gait/functional training, using modalities like heat, ultrasound, and massage. Requires PTA licensure and applicable experience.

Qualifications

• Current certification or license as required by state law.
• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with an Associate’s degree approved by APTA.
• Two years of appropriate experience as a physical therapy assistant and proficiency examination (where applicable).

Responsibilities

• Provides direct physical therapy according to directions of physical therapist and the physician’s plan of care.
• Treats patient to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
• Directs and aids patients in active and passive therapeutic exercises, gait and functional training, and prosthetic training.
• Utilizes physical agents such as heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massage.
• Observes and reports patient’s reaction to treatment and changes in condition to the physical therapist/Clinical Director.
• Instructs patients in care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, prosthetic or orthotic devices.
• Maintains necessary records and notes in patient’s clinical record.
• Participates in organization team meetings and case conferences.

Education

Associate’s degree in science or applied science approved by American Physical Therapy Association
