Job summary

Transition Home Healthcare and Pathways Hospice seeks an Accounts Receivable/Billing Specialist onsite in Houston, TX to ensure accurate reimbursement and smooth revenue cycle operations.

The role requires 1+ year in home health billing, strong insurance knowledge, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and experience with HCHB EMR. You will collaborate with care teams and patients to maintain quality service.

Qualifications

• 1+ year in billing, AR, prior authorizations, and billing systems in home health/hospice.
• Knowledge of insurance and HMO plans; ability to research complex issues.
• Experience with home health insurance, authorization, and appeals.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook).
• Experience with HCHB EMR.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reimbursement through billing and AR management.
• Update billing and patient accounts in EMR systems timely and accurately.
• Work aged ARs; resubmit overdue bills; escalate delinquent accounts.
• Gather and report billing information to Revenue Cycle Director.
• Maintain knowledge of billing systems, upgrades, enhancements.
• Maintain relationships with patients, payors, and referrals.
• Know insurance requirements and payor contracts; ensure proper billing.
• Protect patient and organization confidentiality in billing operations.
• Complete other tasks as designated by supervisor.

Accounts Receivable/Billing Specialist - (Home Health & Hospice)

Onsite - Houston, TX 77081

Responsibilities:

• Ensure reimbursement through efficient billing and collections operations and effective accounts receivable management.
• Ensure billing and patient accountrecords are updated in multiple EMR systems timely and accurately. Document all follow-up and necessary information in reference to the patient account.
• Work aged accounts receivables, resubmit bills on overdue accounts, and submit significantly delinquent accounts to supervisor for further collection.
• Gather, collate, and report key billing information to the Director of Revenue Cycle Management.
• Understand the billing information system and maintain comprehensive working knowledge including upgrades and enhancements.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, family members,payors,and referral sources.
• Maintain comprehensive working knowledge of insurance company and authorization requirements.
• Has knowledge ofpayor contracts and ensurespayors are billed according to contract provisions.
• Protect the confidentiality of patient and organization information through effective controls and direct supervision of billing operations.
• Complete other tasks as required and designated by supervisor and/or administrator.

Qualifications:

• Minimum one (1) year of experience with billing processes, AR, prior authorizations, and billing systems in home health/hospice.
• Knowledge of different insurance and HMO plans and ability to research complex issues.
• Working knowledge of insurance(s) for home health, authorization, and appeals requirements.
• Proficient level experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience with HCHB EMR
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
