Job summary

Right at Home in New Jersey is seeking a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) to join a dynamic care team providing clinical expertise in-home. You can make a difference by helping and caring for people in the comfort of their homes.

The Home Health Aide responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, hygiene, mobility, meal preparation, and light housekeeping, with training provided by a Right at Home nurse. A valid CHHA license and English proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or G.E.D. certificate preferred.
• Two years of experience as a Caregiver/Home Health Aide in healthcare (in homes or facilities) is preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English as needed for the job.
• Possess a valid drivers license and an insured automobile
• A current CHHA license from the New Jersey Board of Nursing
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

• Performs personal care activities that assist the patient with activities of daily living, which include (but are not limited to): personal hygiene assistance, ambulation/transfers, eating, dressing/shaving, meal prep, errands/appointments support.
• Performs housekeeping activities: vacuuming, dusting, sweeping/mopping, dishes, bedding, laundry, bathrooms.
• Supports patient-specific activities taught by a Right at Home nurse, e.g., medication reminders, ROM exercises, special diets, dementia care, incontinence care.

The Home Health Aide responsibilities and duties:

Performs personal care activities that assist the patient with activities of daily living, which include (but are not limited to):

• Personal hygiene (assisting with bathroom or in using a bedpan, bathing, care of mouth, shaving, skin, and hair)
• Ambulation/Transfers
• Eating
• Dressing/Shaving
• Prepares meals and snacks according to instructions
• Accompany the patient on errands or medical appointments.
• Performs housekeeping activities which include (but are not limited to): vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, doing laundry, and cleaning bathrooms

The Home Health Aide performs patient-specific activities that are taught by a Right at Home nurse. These could include (but are not limited to):

• Medication reminders
• Assisting with the prescribed range of motion exercises
• Measuring and preparing special diets
• Understanding dementia care
• Incontinence care
