Caregivers provide companionship, light housekeeping, and assistance with mobility, medications, and daily living activities. Training in dementia and Alzheimer’s care is available to expand your skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong ethics and compassion for seniors.
• Excellent emergency response and first aid knowledge.
• Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in home care.
• Respectful, patient, and reliable with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with medications per care plan and doctor instructions.
• Support mobility and ambulation around the home or during appointments.
• Assist with personal care and hygiene tasks.
• Help with routine exercises and mobility activities.
• Plan and prepare meals with client input and dietary needs.
• Shop for groceries or accompany clients on outings.
• Perform light housekeeping and homemaking tasks as needed.
• Provide companionship and report any concerns.
• Respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies.

Home Health Aide - HHA Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks, etc.)
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
• Help clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)
• Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Home Health Aide - HHA Requirements
