Job summary

Valley Health System is seeking a Home Health Aide to provide intermittent direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role supports a safe, clean care environment and requires NJ HHA certification, completion of approved training, and a valid driver's license.

Experience in skilled nursing, home health, or proven proficiency is preferred. The position is aligned with hospital-based home health services and pays according to listed ranges.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in a skilled nursing facility, home health agency, or proven proficiency.
• Completion of the State approved Home Health Aide Training course, Home Health Aide competency exam and New Jersey State Board of Nursing certification.
• Ability to work in a changing patient care environment and meet patient needs.
• Ability to work cooperatively within the health system with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to manage time effectively and respond to emergencies.
• Ability to read, write and understand English.
• Driver's license with valid insurance and driving record acceptable.

POSITION SUMMARY:

To perform intermittent direct or indirect hands‑on patient care to meet the patient's needs in accordance with the plan of care and assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

One year of current experience in a skilled nursing facility, home health agency, or proven proficiency.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Completion of the State approved Home Health Aide Training course, Home Health Aide competency exam and certification through the New Jersey State Board of Nursing.

Ability to work in a changing patient care environment and meet patient's needs (chronic and/or terminal illness).

Ability to work cooperatively within the health system; with patient and family members; and with multidisciplinary team members (i.e., nurses, Rehab staff, etc.).

Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations.

Ability to read write and understand English.

Driver's License - current and valid driver's license, registration, inspection sticker and appropriate level of insurance coverage required, to include collision.

Employees must adhere to all procedural guidelines in HR Policy 108 including demonstrating an acceptable driving record for the duration of their employment as long as driving continues to be a responsibility of the job.
