Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a PRN Day Shift Home Health Aide to support patients at home. You will provide personal care, monitor vital signs, and help with mobility and daily tasks in a home setting.

Orientation lasts 9-10 weeks with hourly pay of $17.50-$22.00, followed by the Point Pay System. The role emphasizes safety, compassionate care, and helping patients heal where they live.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant per state requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years; complete another training if longer than two years before providing services.
• Must be able to pass the competency program.

Responsibilities

• Obtain temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy home environment.
• Assist patient with bed mobility, bathing, hygiene, and toileting.
• Prepare meals and assist with eating.
• Perform light homemaking and environmental tasks.
• Observe and report changes in patient status.

Responsibilities

• Obtains temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration.

• Assists patient with getting in and out of bed, bathing, hygiene, and toileting.
• Prepares and provides and/or assists with meals.
• Does light homemaking and other environmental services.
• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient status.
• Understands basic elements of body functioning and reports changes in patient's body functions as indicated.
• Recognizes emergency situations and implements appropriate emergency procedures per care center policy.
• Follows care center procedures regarding infection prevention and control, handling of hazardous waste and safety measures.
• Follows specific written instructions for personal care in accordance with the plan of care.
• Assists patient with prescribed exercises as instructed per nurse or therapist.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant as per state certification/registration requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years. If it has been more than two years, you must complete another training and competency program before providing services.
• Must be able to successfully pass the competency program of the care center.
• Current CPR certification.
