Qualifications

  • Remind clients to take prescribed medications set up by a nurse.
  • Provide homemaking services and accompany to appointments as planned.
  • Maintain a healthy, safe environment.
  • Document activities on timesheet.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Job Summary:

The Home Health Service is responsible for providing personal care to clients in accordance with established community services procedures or as directed by supervisor.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Home Health Aide Training Course Completion
  • High School Graduate/GED
  • Coursework related to care of the elderly.
  • Two years CNA experience in home health care preferred
  • Experience in caring for the elderly
  • Experience in caring for physically dependent people
  • Caring, concerned, sensitive
  • Able to work and speak respectfully to clients of all ages and diagnoses
  • Equipment Used (including but not limited to): Wheelchairs, Hoyer Lift, Bedside Commode, Automobile, Gait Belts, Appliances of Clients, Walkers, Telephones, Shopping Carts, Canes
Essential Job Functions:
  • Be on time and dressed in a professional manner as indicated in Home Health Aide handbook.
  • Provide personal care to the client, including bathing, oral hygiene, hair care, shaving, skin care, hand and foot care, and dressing.
  • Assist client with mobility, including walking, transferring, turning and positioning using good body mechanics. Assist client with prescribed exercises that the client and the aide have been taught by appropriate personnel.
  • Assist client with toileting needs, including assistance with bedpan/bedside commode, toilet use and care of incontinence.
  • Plan, shop, prepare, or assist with nutritious meals and prescribed diets; includes clean up of kitchen area; feed those in need of assistance.
  • Remind clients to take medications that ordinarily are self-administered and that are prescribed by the client’s physician and are set up by a nurse.
  • Provide homemaking services, such as bed making, light housework, laundering, errand running with client/family’s agreement or accompanying client to medical appointments (as specified on Plan of Care)
  • Perform or assist with activities necessary to maintain a healthy, safe environment.
  • Document activities on timesheet.
  • Perform other related duties that may become necessary or appropriate.
  • Act as a companion and meet socialization needs of the clients.
