Job summary

Ohio Head Start Association, Inc. is seeking a Home Educator to work in the Piqua, OH area. The role involves in-home support for Head Start families, promoting positive parent-child interactions and developmental goals aligned with early education standards.

Responsibilities include enrolling eligible families, visiting weekly, documenting progress, and coordinating with local agencies. A CDA or higher and an associate’s degree are preferred, with tuition assistance and ongoing training

Qualifications

  • Home visiting experience preferred.
  • CDA credential or equivalent coursework required as part of an associate's or bachelor’s degree.
  • Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or related field preferred.
  • Willing to undertake, within 18 months, any additional required training for effective family support.

  • Partner with Head Start families in their home to promote positive parent-child interactions, development-centered parenting, and family-well-being to ensure a thriving child.
  • Recruit, complete and maintain enrollment with eligible families, develop a rapport and provide services through ongoing interactions.
  • Visit families weekly, document activities and progress, and ensure they have the resources to obtain developmental, social-emotional, medical and dental screenings.
  • Collaborate with family on goals, including those established on an IFSP, IEP or other case plan.
  • Coach parent/guardian in observation and documentation techniques, and in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate practices with children; assist and encourage them in their role of primary educator for their child using the established curriculum. Encourage and support an educationally stimulating environment and incorporate the use of learning materials commonly found in the home to carry out activities; follow home visiting safety guidance plan at all times.
  • Provide pregnant women and expectant families educational and social service support specific to their individual needs.
  • Offer periodic group socialization experiences for children and families to interact with each other and their peers.
  • Become knowledgeable about, maintain working relationships, and attend meetings with local agencies that can also serve our families.

Salary Range: $16.73.-$23.27- Hourly. Wages are based on education; a minimum of a CDA is required. Minimum starting wage with an Associate’s and no experience is $21.84. CORS pays for educational advancement for motivated employees with a heart for service!


Description:

Collaborate with families to assess their strengths, define goals, and identify the resources needed to meet them. Assist children and families with strengthening the skills needed for school and life. Use the many tools offered through the comprehensive programs of Head Start and Early Head Start to identify obstacles and resources to surmount them!

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:


  • Work Experience Required: Home visiting experience preferred.

  • Education and Training: Minimum of a home-based CDA credential or comparable credential or equivalent coursework as part of an associate’s or bachelor’s (college in lieu of associate’s or bachelor’s) degree. Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or related field preferred. Competent in planning and implementing home-based learning experiences. Willing to undertake, within 18 months, any additional required training for effective family support.

  • Special Conditions: Ability to lift 40 pounds, stoop, bend, reach, move easily and work on the floor with families and small children. A valid driver’s license and a driving history acceptable to agency insurer. Involves extensive organizing, problem solving, record -keeping and time management; able to travel assigned service area extensively. Overnight travel for training may be required. Ability to work a flexible schedule.
