Job summary

Project NOW, Inc. in Rock Island, IL is seeking a Home Delivered Meals Driver (HDM) to transport meals to sites and homes in Rock Island and Mercer counties.

The role requires a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to lift and move meal containers; 21+ age; and good communication skills. Training will be provided, and you will follow sanitary food handling practices and report any vehicle issues promptly.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Transports meals in Rock Island and Mercer counties to sites and homes.
• Follows sanitary food handling practices and maintains meals at required temperatures.
• Clean and return delivery bags and containers after meal delivery.
• Check vehicle daily and report mechanical problems immediately.
• Report accidents and complete required reports; follow traffic laws.
• Keep accurate records of vehicle usage, transports, fuel costs, mileage, and data.
• Follow routes provided by supervisor and keep dispatcher informed of location.
• Keep vehicle clean and neat; complete paperwork in a timely fashion.
• Attend trainings as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

Transports meals in Rock Island and Mercer counties to sites and homes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follows sanitary food handling practices including checking and keeping meals at required temperatures.
• Thoroughly clean and return delivery bags and containers to the proper location after meal delivery.
• Check vehicle daily, and report all mechanical problems immediately.
• Report all accidents and complete required reports. Follow all traffic laws.
• Keep accurate records of vehicle usage, number of transports, fuel cost, mileage, and other required data.
• Keeps to routes provided by the supervisor and keeps the dispatcher or supervisor notified of the location at all times.
• Keep vehicle clean and neat in appearance.
• Complete all paperwork in a timely fashion.
• Attends training as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurability.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have documented good driving record and have had a driver's license for a minimum of 3 years.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
