Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a professional truck driver to join our team. You will operate late model Freightliner tractors, pulling 53' reefer trailers to plants, distribution centers, and customer sites with a home daily schedule.

Expect 1,800–2,000 miles per week, a mix of drop/hook and live loading, and up to 12 hours per shift. Requires CDL A and a safety-conscious, team-oriented approach to work.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• 1-year CDL Class A driving tractor trailer or reefer experience required.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) in compliance with DOT and company standards.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete DVIRs daily.
• Transport loads according to dispatch instructions, ensuring proper load security and biosecurity compliance.
• Maintain accurate Hours of Service (HOS) logs via ELD or paper logs when required.
• Report all accidents, citations, and equipment defects promptly.
• Participate in scheduled driver safety meetings and required training programs.
• Keep assigned truck clean and report maintenance needs.
