Job summary

Dow Rummel Village in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking a part-time caregiver to provide direct care and companionship to Independent Living residents and others within the Home Care Program. Duties include assisting with activities of daily living, staying within care plans, and ensuring a clean, safe environment.

You’ll also document health status and coordinate with care teams. Requirements include South Dakota Medication Aide License, ability to lift 50 lbs, and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• South Dakota Medication Aide License is required.
• Experience in senior living or long‑term care is preferred.
• Clear background check and health screening including TB clearance.

Responsibilities

Pay Range: $17.08 – $22.45/hour (based on experience)

Job Summary

This position provides direct care and companion services to Independent Living and/or other residents of Dow Rummel Village. Assisting them with activities and support as needed within the parameters of Dow Rummel’s Home Care Program, and the individual residents plan of care. Responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of designated common spaces and certain resident apartments. Provides guidance and direction to staff members. Answers resident requests and questions with a high level of customer service skills.

The Responsibilities

• Model the values, mission, and vision of the organization.
• Be alert and active in supporting facility's commitment to safe practices, infection control, and respect for residents' rights.
• Communicate with residents and/or family members, if required regarding the progress of resident.
• Model leadership to other team members in all job duties and communication skills.
• Will answer resident requests and team questions outside of typical business hours. Must be able to effectively honor resident requests by delegating on site team members to correct services.
• Communicate with team members and Resident Services Director throughout the shift to ensure all resident cares are completed.
• Assist residents in activities and support as needed, such as but not limited to; bathing, dressing, eating, medication reminders as prescribed in the plan of care; assist with other home care tasks as instructed.
• Document and monitor all progress and changes in any residents’ health, medical condition and care provided and communicate promptly with supervisor.
• Provide treatments and documentation as ordered by the physician.
• Accurately track time spent while doing resident services and report it to ensure proper billing is accomplished.
• Clean resident rooms and common areas in accordance with the cleaning schedule at a high standard.
• Will be required to be a part of the on-call rotation to fill open shifts as determined by the Resident Services Director.
• Provide assistance and support to Resident Services Director and Resident Care Coordinator as appropriate or assigned.

What You'll Bring

• Required: South Dakota Medication Aide License
• Experience in senior living or long‑term care (preferred)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, push/pull 60 lbs, and carry 15 lbs with two hands
• Dependable transportation and flexibility to work varying hours
• Positive, team‑oriented attitude with strong communication skills
• Professional demeanor, clear background check, and current health screening including TB clearance
