FirstLight Home Care of Glenview is seeking reliable and compassionate caregivers to provide non-medical companionship in clients' homes. The role emphasizes patience, discretion, and respect for client privacy, with focus on maximizing independence and comfort.

Responsibilities include light housekeeping, meal preparation, transportation, and safe engagement in activities. You'll work with a supportive team and receive comprehensive training and a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED, or 1–3 months related experience.
• Knowledge of housekeeping and cooking with dietary awareness.
• Ability to interact effectively with clients and families.
• State-required certifications may be required.
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
• Strong reading and written communication skills.
• Ability to present information in one-on-one or small group settings.
• Ability to make decisions using critical thinking.

Responsabilités

• Offer companionship, light housekeeping, meal prep, recreation, shopping help, and transportation.
• Follow Service Plan to address non-medical needs and assist with daily living activities.
• Remind clients to take medications.

The shift will grow in terms of hours and possibly days as the family gets comfortable with the caregiver. The shift minimally is on Monday and Friday or at least two days to begin with but will end up adding more days and possibly weekends shortly.

Job Summary:

This individual will provide non-medical companion care to the client(s) in the client(s)’ residence and outside of the residence as needed. Individuals must be able to deal maturely with the demands of the job and keep client information confidential. The individual must be committed to the concepts, philosophy, and mission of FirstLight Home Care, and possess the desire to assist clients to maximize their independence and reach their fullest potential in their personal residence.

Home Care Companion responsibilities include:

Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.

• Offer meaningful companionship services, including light housekeeping duties, meal preparation, recreational activities, shopping assistance, and transportation


• Follow the established Service Plan/Care Plan to provide general attention to the non-medical needs of clients; assist with instrumental activities of daily living


• Remind client(s) to take medications


• Work with the care team to document services delivered, activities, and behaviors in accordance with FirstLight Home Care policies/ procedures


• Utilize the FLHC-required time management system for Clock-in and Clock-out procedures when reporting for work and when clocking out from work


• Adhere to HIPAA regulations


• Participate as requested in the quality assurance reviews and evaluations of FirstLight’s services


• Stay current with changing technology, including software programs.


• Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have:

To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, and educational experience required.

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or, one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary recommendations.


• Ability to effectively interact with clients, families, and the FirstLight team


• State-required certifications may be required


• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and maintain valid auto insurance


• Ability to read and understand short instructions, correspondence, and memos


• Ability to effectively communicate through written and verbal language


• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization


• Ability to evaluate situations and make complex decisions using critical thinking and reasoning.
