1st Grade Teacher

Holy Family School in South Bend is seeking a qualified elementary teacher for 1st grade. The ideal candidate will be faith-filled and dedicated to providing quality, data-driven instruction for students of all abilities, integrating the mission of Holy Family School and the Diocese of Fort Wayne / South Bend in all planning, teaching, and classroom activities.

Job Responsibilities Include:

• Homeroom teacher for a 1st grade class of 18-24 students.
• Enforce the school’s discipline policies and demonstrate effective classroom management regarding student organization, behavior, and transitions throughout the day.
• Maintain school records as required by the diocese and state.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with parents about all aspects of school life for this group of students.
• Collaborate with administrators, grade-level teacher teams, staff, and parents on school-wide initiatives, projects, and field trips.
• Prepare lesson plans and teach in assigned subject areas and grade levels in accordance with state and diocesan guidelines.
• Implement the Be My Disciples Religion Curriculum.
• Utilize iREADY Math and IXL online programs for math instruction.
• Use PLTW and FOSS Kits for Science instruction.
• Incorporate relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Recognize various student learning styles and adapt instructional methods and materials accordingly.
• Use assessments to measure student growth.
• Enter grades and monitor academic progress via PowerSchool software.
• Commit to ongoing faith formation and professional growth.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

• Indiana Elementary teaching license or demonstrated eligibility to obtain one.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Fluent and grammatically correct English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly walk up and down multiple flights of stairs.
• Stand for periods of 30 minutes or more.
• Operate computers, handheld devices, and office equipment.
• Occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.
