Job summary

Missouri State Public Defender System (MSPD) seeks an entry-level Holistic Defense Services Specialist to support attorneys in compassionate, client-centered advocacy across Missouri. You will help connect clients with resources, collect records, and assist in developing mitigation materials under mentorship.

The role is ideal for individuals passionate about social services, criminal justice, psychology, counseling, or community advocacy, offering training and opportunities to impact lives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or four years of relevant experience required.
• Interest in holistic defense, mitigation, or client-centered advocacy preferred.
• Ability to communicate compassionately with diverse clients.
• Willingness to travel to meet with clients and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial and mitigation interviews with clients.
• Obtain and organize medical, educational, mental health, and other records.
• Assist with mitigation memoranda, timelines, and case materials.
• Communicate with clients, families, service providers, and community agencies.
• Identify community resources and connect clients with support services.
• Provide case management assistance to address client needs.
• Organize and maintain mitigation records and materials.
• Assist attorneys with client-centered advocacy and holistic defense strategies.
• Utilize case management systems to document activities.
• Collaborate with attorneys, investigators, and MSPD staff.
