Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a Kettle Worker in Anchorage for seasonal bell-ringing duties to raise funds and spread Christmas cheer. You will greet shoppers, collect donations, and represent the organization at various store locations outdoors in cold weather.

Positions are temporary, non-exempt, with emphasis on reliability, public courtesy, and adherence to organizational policies. Training and background checks are required for selected applicants.

Qualifications

• Must clear Alaska State background checks.
• Complete Kettle Worker Training.
• Must be 17 years of age or older.
• Able to stand or sit for up to 8 hours on concrete.
• Able to withstand cold temperatures for up to 8 hours.
• Courteous and respectful to patrons, staff, volunteers.
• Provide fun, enthusiasm, and Christmas cheer.
• Follow Salvation Army AK Handbook policies.

Responsibilities

• Stand outside an assigned store and ring the bell for charitable donations.
• Be a friendly face for The Salvation Army.
• Guard the Red Kettle within reason.
• Interact with and greet store patrons.
• Dress appropriately for weather conditions.
• Relieve previous volunteer in a timely manner.
• Follow policies and mandates of The Salvation Army and partnering business.
