Job summary

Avera At Home is hiring a Home Medical Equipment (HME) Technician II to deliver, set up, and maintain medical devices such as beds, wheelchairs, and oxygen concentrators at patients' homes or facilities. You will educate patients and caregivers, perform safety checks, and document deliveries and pickups.

The role requires physical lifting, independent work, and on-call availability. Employment involves meeting CMS and OSHA standards and supporting reimbursement processes.

  • Drivers License - Licensing Board Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company and all applicable governmental regulations
  • Transport equipment safely using company vehicles, managing delivery routes, and coordinating pick-ups of used equipment items
  • Assemble medical devices on-site and provide clear, compassionate demonstrations to patients and families to ensure they understand how to use the equipment safely
  • Completes all required documentation for equipment setups, deliveries, and pickups in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Accurately process transactions, including new customer registration, sales orders, transfers, cash sales, deposits, returns, notes, tasks, autopay, and work-in-progress updates
  • Understand reimbursement guidelines, secures necessary signatures, and documents all information required to support proper reimbursement
  • Conducts home visits to perform equipment quality checks and reinforce safe and appropriate equipment use
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs according to manufacturer guidelines and company standards
  • Cleans and decontaminate equipment per manufacturer instructions and organizational infection control protocols
  • Available for on-call assignments as needed (after business hours &/or weekends)

A Brief Overview

A Home Medical Equipment (HME) Technician II is responsible for the delivery, setup, and maintenance of medical devices—such as hospital beds, wheelchairs, and oxygen concentrators—directly to patients' homes, facility or other living facility. Educate patients and caregivers on safe equipment operation, perform routine cleaning and safety checks, and maintain accurate delivery documentation. This role often requires physical lifting, independent work, and availability for on-call shifts.
