Job summary

Lone Star Paving in Central Texas is seeking a Plant Ground Hand Laborer to join our plant crew. This entry-level role supports a busy HMA operation, performing shovel and hand-tool tasks, housekeeping, and equipment prep. You must be reliable, safety-minded, and able to work outdoors in varied weather. Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas and the role focuses on safe, efficient production practices in a team environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year or less of construction or labor experience.
• Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• General laborer duties at HMA plants.
• Shovel, rake, and handle small tools.
• Clean up equipment and yard; keep debris-free.
• May operate small power tools and assist with conveyors.
• Signal equipment operators to guide material movement.
• Maintain plant grounds and cleanliness.
• Assist with cleaning parts, material, and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Manager.
• Adhere to plant rules and wear PPE.
• May be trained to operate forklift or loader.
• Other duties as assigned.

Lone Star Paving is a paving contractor, operating in the Central Texas region with paving crews, HMA, aggregate, trucking, milling, and quality control. Our operations complete heavy highway and civil projects throughout Texas. Position Overview

The Plant Ground Hand Laborer position is an integral part of the plant crew working with the entire team and management to ensure jobs are completed to high standards. The ideal candidate is familiar with physical labor and is able to perform tasks related to HMA work in numerous settings and environments.

Key Responsibilities

• General laborer duties associated with HMA plants.
• Required ability to shovel, rake and handle other small tools.
• Equipment cleanup as needed.
• May be called upon to run small power tools.
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
• Maintain the yard and plant, keeping it neat and free from debris
• Shovel material around and onto conveyors
• General housekeeping around the plant facilities
• Assist with cleaning parts, material, and equipment
• Perform other tasks as assigned by Plant Manager
• Always adhere to all plant rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
• May be trained to operate forklift, loader, etc.
• Ability to perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Entry Level Position
• Working knowledge of aggregate production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred.
• Familiarity with MSHA and OSHA regulations, a plus
• High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required

Working Conditions

• Be available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required.
• Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas.
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include but not be limited to inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
• Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
• Proper PPE is required at all times.
