Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA seeks a HITL Engineer II to design, maintain, and run hardware-in-the-loop systems for our spacecraft buses. You will collaborate with the Space Systems team, verify performance, and support Day of Launch simulations. The role requires a 2+ year track record and hands-on testing expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, electronics, computer science, aerospace engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of engineering experience with hardware or software development.
• Experience with electronics testing.
• Experience with designing and implementing electronics test systems.
• U.S. citizenship is required, due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, operate, and maintain HITL systems for Rocket Lab spacecraft buses.
• Work hands-on with test and flight hardware.
• Verify functionality and performance with cross-disciplinary teams.
• Operate the Day of Launch simulation platform for missions.
• Create and maintain system diagrams, schematics, and test reports.
• Analyze test results and determine pass/fail criteria.
• Troubleshoot anomalies and communicate findings with internal teams and vendors.
• Review test plans, procedures, and documentation.
• Operate and capture data from test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, etc.)
